Pest SpraysDear Forum,
if you are trying to grow organic fruit and veg in your back garden then don't be tempted to spray your roses with pesticides. You will be affecting the bio-diversity in your garden and make it difficult for frendly insects to help in the fight against the nasty ones, your spray's do not generally know the difference between the good and bad bugs.

Organic Aphid SprayRhubarb Spray i.e. spray made from rhubarb
I heard of using rhubarb Leaves. Soaking them in water and using the water (sorry, can't remember if I boiled them and used the water - I may well have).
It seamed to work by making the plants (roses) slimy, but not so you could see, and the aphids didn't seem to like it.
As I say, it did work but I am not sure how safe it would be for use on edible crops - best check that one out first.

Great Idea but I would be careful about using a rhubarb spray on your veg. as it is poisonous and although it may wash off during watering or when it rains there is bound to be a bit of contamination there.
Perhaps this idea is best kept for the roses.
